Text message confirmations and reminders with your Twilio
Connect your own Twilio number so customers get booking confirmations and day-before reminders by text.
Rennt can text your customers automatically: when a booking request comes in, when you confirm or decline it, the day before the event, and when you record a payment. When you connect your own Twilio account, those texts go out from your own business phone number and are billed to your own Twilio account.
Connect Twilio#
- In /manage, open Settings and go to Integrations.
- Find the "Text messaging — Twilio" card.
- Enter your Twilio Account SID (it starts with AC), your Auth Token, and Your Twilio phone number in +1 format.
- Click Connect Twilio. Rennt checks the details with Twilio before saving them. Your auth token is stored securely and is never shown again, not even to you.
- Use Send test SMS to send a test text to your own phone.
Not sure where to find these? The card has a "How do I find these?" link with step-by-step help.
Once Twilio is connected, automatic texts turn on by themselves. If you click Disconnect, automatic texts stop.
Register your number first (US A2P 10DLC)#
US mobile carriers require businesses to register before sending texts from a regular 10-digit number. This is called A2P 10DLC registration, and you do it in your Twilio account, not in Rennt. Until your brand and campaign are approved, carriers may block or filter your messages. Register before you start texting customers. What gets sent#
Customers only get texts if they tick the box agreeing to texts when they book on your storefront and enter a phone number. The automatic texts are:
- Request received: we got your request, no charge yet.
- Booking confirmed, or booking declined.
- Day-before reminder for confirmed bookings.
- Payment received.
- A review request after the rental.
STOP and opt-outs#
Texts include "Reply STOP to opt out." When a customer replies STOP, Twilio blocks further texts from your number to them. If Rennt tries to text that customer again, it marks the message as opted out and stops sending them texts for your business.
Costs#
Rennt doesn't charge anything for texts. Twilio bills you directly for each message and for your phone number, at Twilio's rates, on your own Twilio account. Rennt keeps no share.
