How products are ordered on your storefront
Grouped by category, then in the order added. The practical levers for getting items seen.
Your storefront shows products grouped by category, and within each group in the order the products were added — first in, first shown. There is no drag-to-reorder control today, so the practical levers are the ones below.
What controls what#
- Category chips control the big structure: customers tap "Bounce Houses" or "Tables & Chairs" to filter. Set these up in the Categories panel of Inventory.
- Within a category, order follows when each product was created — importing a CSV keeps your spreadsheet's row order.
- Hidden items (toggle off) simply do not appear, which is also an ordering tool: less clutter promotes everything that remains.
Getting your best items seen#
- Lead with categories. A tidy set of 4–8 groups means every item is two taps away regardless of raw order.
- Adding your catalog fresh? Add your hero items first — they will sit at the front of their groups.
- Give headline items great photos and visible prices; on a grid, the eye goes to the best photo, not the first cell.
- Hide the long tail with Hide from storefront. Twelve strong listings outsell forty mixed ones.
If exact order really matters to you#
Rebuilding order after the fact means re-adding items in the sequence you want (run Export products first so nothing is lost). For most companies, the photo-and-category route gets the same result with far less fuss.
