What Publish actually does (drafts vs live)

Edits are private drafts until you press the button. How the two versions of your site work.

Plan: All plansWho: Everyone

Every change you make in the website builder is a draft: saved, safe, and invisible to the public. Publish is the moment your current draft replaces what visitors see. Nothing you edit leaks out early.

The two versions of your site#

At any moment there are two: the published version (what customers at rennt.app/s/your-slug see right now) and your working draft (what the Website tab shows you). Edit for five minutes or five days — the live site does not move until you press the button.

Why it works this way#

You can rebuild your homepage on a Tuesday afternoon while customers keep booking on the old version, then flip when it is ready. Preview exists for exactly this: see the draft as a visitor would — check it on your phone — before committing.

After you press Publish#

The new version is live within about a minute. If YOU still see the old page, that is almost always your own browser showing a saved copy — refresh hard, or open the link in a private window; new visitors are getting the new site. The changes-not-showing article covers this in more detail.

Practical rhythm#

  • Edit freely; draft often; publish when it reads right.
  • Always Preview on a phone first — most of your visitors are on one.
  • After publishing, open View storefront once and skim top to bottom. Thirty seconds catches the misspelled headline your eyes skipped in the editor.
