A booking total looks wrong

Open the booking and read the lines: items, delivery, setup, waiver, tax, extra charges.

A booking total that looks wrong is usually right — it is the sum of more lines than people expect. Open the booking in Bookings and read the breakdown before assuming a bug.

What makes up a total#

  • Rental items — each product times its Qty and rate.
  • Delivery fee — set by your delivery pricing (zones or distance). A far-away address can add real money.
  • Setup — if you charge for setup, it is its own line.
  • Damage waiver — if you use one, typically a percentage on top.
  • Tax — applied at your configured rate.
  • Extra charges — anything added by hand with Add charge.

Working out the surprise#

Compare the line items against what you expected:

  • Total too high? Usually delivery (check the address against your Delivery zones) or tax stacking on top of everything else.
  • Total too low? A missing setup fee or a delivery zone priced at zero.
  • Weird cents? That is percentage math (tax or waiver) — correct, just ugly.

Fixing your setup#

If the breakdown reveals a wrong rule — a zone priced wrong, an outdated tax rate — fix it in your settings and future bookings compute correctly. Existing bookings keep the price the customer agreed to.

Payments matter too: a booking can be priced right but LOOK wrong because a deposit was already recorded. Check amount paid vs balance on the booking.
