Delivery zones: pricing by distance
Set a free radius, a per-mile rate, and an out-of-area limit — Rennt turns them into automatic zone pricing for every checkout.
Your delivery zones in Rennt are distance rings around your base address, and you define them in Settings under Delivery pricing: free within your free radius, priced by distance beyond it, and "out of area" past your maximum radius. Once saved, every storefront checkout and every quote prices delivery automatically — no more guessing a fee on the phone.
The pieces#
- Your base address — where trucks actually leave from. Rennt geocodes it once and measures each delivery's distance from there.
- Base fee — the flat amount any delivery starts at ($25 is a common start).
- Per mile — added for each mile from your base ($2/mile is typical).
- Per item — optional; adds per item for big orders that take real loading time.
- Minimum fee — the floor, so short runs still cover the truck.
- Free radius — deliver free within this distance. Great for dominating your own town.
- Max radius — beyond this, checkout says you are out of area instead of quoting a fee. This is your "no, we don't drive two hours" setting.
The fee works out as: the larger of your minimum fee, or base fee + per-mile x miles + per-item x items. Press Save delivery pricing when done.
Getting it right#
- Check the note under the address field: it should say coordinates are set. Without coordinates Rennt cannot measure distance and quotes fall back to your flat base fee.
- Price honestly: a 30-mile run is an hour of truck, fuel and labor each way. If the math on your longest deliveries feels painful, raise per-mile or pull in the max radius.
- Setup fees are separate on purpose — they come from each product's setup fee in Inventory, so a tent adds setup cost and a stack of chairs does not.
