Every booking has a Payments section with a running ledger: total due, paid so far, and the balance left.

Recording money#

Open the booking and find Payments. Record a payment and choose:

  • Type — deposit, payment, or refund.
  • Method — cash, card, check or other.
  • Amount, and an optional note.

The balance updates as you go, so the booking always shows what is still owed. Recorded money flows into your Reports, so your numbers stay honest whether or not you take cards.

This works fine if you never take a card in your life. Someone hands you $200 cash on delivery — log it here, and your books are right.

If you have Stripe connected#

Card payments taken through your storefront are recorded automatically. You do not log those by hand. Only cash, checks and off-platform payments need entering.

Refunds#

  • Cash or check — hand it back, then record a refund on the booking so the ledger matches reality.
  • Card — refund it in your own Stripe dashboard. The money is in *your* bank account, not ours — Rennt never holds your customers' money. Then record the refund here.

Deposits#

Many owners take 25% to reserve, balance on delivery. Rennt does not enforce that — your deposit and cancellation policy belongs in your rental agreement, where the customer signs it and there is no argument later.
